EGO Paintball Gun – Eclipse EGO10 Review
Check Out my Review on the EGO paintball gun. As a young adult without even having been introduced to the sport/hobby of paintball, I grew a strong interest for what fun things you can do with paintball markers. Although at that time my acts of deviousness with paintball markers began by plastering cars driving by, as I stood on the second floor balcony of my in-laws town home in Miami, FL and not to mention the fences and houses of my own neighbors that got decorated with paintballs. From that point my interest in playing with paintball markers had begun to rise.
Still having yet to step on a field or course to play an organized game of paintball, I was intrigued by the number of avid paintball players out there, and even more intrigued by the number of paintball markers out there for beginners to the most skilled players and ranging from $80.00 (craigslist special) to $5000.00.
My first paintball marker which I don’t even recall ever looking for the name on it, was given to me from my brother in-law, nevertheless it was a cheap paintball (gun) marker but all I knew, and cared for at the time was that it shot and got the job done. Now, having been exposed to the hobby and many different guns, in addition to playing on a regular basis, I can remember the functionality of the gun not being very good at all, now that I look back at it. I can recall with my old cheap paintball marker, and even the rental paintball (gun) markers that I’ve played with, how the paintballs would often roll out the barrel of the gun before I could ever get ready to shoot the gun. Even after shooting a few paintballs out of the marker, balls would immediately roll out the barrel before I could even shoot again; wasting paintballs while leisurely shooting or during the middle of game play. Another drawback that I could recall experiencing with cheap paintball markers were constantly having to re-cock the paintball marker in order to fire, this made it challenging to shoot, or if I were out in the field playing a game, this made it difficult to take out my opponent(s), which is never good when your being fired at as well. As a player or an individual who likes playing with the paintball markers, it always bothered me to be shooting paintballs that would never break. This typically is a result of 1) the fact that cheaper paintball markers lack consistent power and thrust to shoot paintballs fast enough to splat on contact and also cheap markers won’t regulate the Paintball CO2 Tanks or compressed air openly enough to burst on impact.
As I’ve gained knowledge and experienced ups and downs of the hobby, I’ve come to the realization and reality that once you know better, you’re supposed to do better, and that better for me began when I was introduced to the 6th generation Planet Eclipse Ego10 paintball marker.
My how far have paintball markers advanced! All together the Eclipse Ego10 has undergone changes from its previous year models, creating it entirely with the players focus in mind, and will put you as the player far above your competition and at the top of your game. The Eclipse Ego10 has been designed to shoot easier, smoother, be more reliable, more consistent, and easier to adjust, and requires less day-to-day maintenance making it nicer to live with. This Ego paintball gun is more than just a collection of metal and wires; it’s the real deal, and the complete package. So what makes this gun so freaking good, you ask?
For starters this Ego paintball gun focus and engineering behind this marker is revolutionary with the emphasis on shooting and handling yet is extremely light, weighing 1.98 lbs, with its aluminum body, barrel, frame, and feed, and is the start of a new direction for paintball markers. While other egos in the PAST has expressed intent on increasing cycle speeds (which is speeding up the rammer and bolt movements, the internal mechanism for quickness and smoothness for shooting paintballs) and minimizing electronic and pneumatic (which is the technology of using gas pressure for motion inside the guns mechanics) delays, well that has changed and this new marker the Ego10 has achieved it all becoming arguably the fastest, and smoothest under-and-over paintball marker on the planet. This Ego10 has been developed to produce lightning fast bolt speeds that can quickly putout paintballs when firing in either semi capped & uncapped, or ramping capped & uncapped modes, yet gently handles the paint when being loaded and has extraordinary pneumatic response that means there is no delay time in switching on the solenoid to getting the bolt moving and firing immediately.
As a result, not only can the Ego10 can fire up to 28bps (balls per second) but it will do so smoother, quieter, faster, and with better handling meaning no recoil thanks to its Zick2. The Zick2 serves as the internal part of the pneumatic drive system that is designed to have a soft initial kick-off or firing on the forward stroke, gently loading the paintball while minimizing bolt-strike the contact during release and cushions the system on the return stroke back to its rear-stop position.
Right above the Zick2 is the Cure3+ which is another awesome feature of the Eclipse Ego10. The Cure3+ is the bolt system that carries the paintball and reduces the bolt strike impact on the ball being fired, and also ensures that the bolts leading upper edge has the least upper amount of impact possible on the second ball in the chamber to be shot. In most paintball markers this is a commonplace where impact fractures occur but the Ego10 Cure3+ system keeps this at the absolute minimum. The Ego10 has had a complete overhaul and is the MOST RELIABLE paintball marker out there thus far.
Here are a few other sweet features of this Ego paintball gun will offer that has it at the top of its game are:
-16-Bit Micro-processor which sends 16 million instructions per second, with advance power saving features, and sophisticated control algorithms leading to smooth seamless marker operations with its four layered circuit board and 64k internal program memory with ample space for future firmware expansion.
- TRIGGER (5 point adjustable classis “S” style trigger with coil spring and magnetic return)
- CLAMPING FEED (The quick release clamping feed neck makes it easy to fit & remove your loader)
- S3 INLINE REGULATOR (incorporates a self purging mechanism that prevents the marker storing a shot after the tanks has been removed)
- BBSS (Break beam sensor system which detects paint in the breach to stop ball breaks)
- LCM (liquid Crystal display module) is a phenomenal piece to the marker that allows you to gauge and analyze shooting frequencies and allows you to toggle through onboard screens for different settings. With its transflective technology the Ego10 display has increased by 92% for better readability, yet won’t fade in strong lighting, and actually improves in brighter conditions, for game play or marker play in sunny climate conditions. This feature is designed to withstand all the rigors of the game and are resistant to, water, paint, lubricants, and weather conditions. Along with the other beautiful features of the LCM screen displays instant and peak rate of fires and displays historical data in the form of histograms to monitor your rate of fire consistency analyzing how the trigger is being pulled. The shot counter screen features an adjustable and selectable shots remaining gauge to allow you to quickly judge how many paintballs are remaining.
The Ego10 is truly one of the Ego paintball guns to have, you will never experience the gratification and experience the peace of mind then you will by playing with this marker. Everything from the design, the look, the feel, the ergonomics, and most importantly the shooting and reliability of this marker, will give you the confidence that you have indeed made the right choice of marker.
